Product Overview

Channel-based imaging, built for the difficult scan

The Vetus 9 is Mindray’s premium veterinary ultrasound and the only model in the range built on ZST+, the ZONE Sonography Technology+ platform. Instead of conventional beamforming it processes channel data in zones, then applies dynamic pixel focusing across the whole field of view, so superficial skin and deep organs are in focus at the same time.

ZST+ also stores the complete acoustic raw data set, which is what allows post-acquisition reprocessing and the quantitative tools. On the clinical side that shows up as STE, a two-dimensional shear-wave elastography mode that returns quantitative stiffness values, and UWN+ contrast imaging that uses both the second harmonic and non-linear fundamental signals for longer agent duration at lower MI.

For cardiology the system carries TDI QA with up to eight regions of interest analysed at once, reporting myocardial velocity, strain, strain rate and synchrony, plus TT QA tissue tracking that works from 2D speckle patterns and is therefore angle-independent. The hardware is a 23.8-inch bezel-less screen with adaptive brightness, a 15.6-inch full-HD touch display, five elevated transducer connectors and a 26 dB quiet design.

The Vetus 9 is specified when quantitative elastography, strain imaging or contrast work drives the purchase. If the caseload is routine abdominal and reproduction scanning, the Vetus 8 or 5Exp covers it at lower cost.

FAQ

Common questions about Mindray Vetus 9 Veterinary Ultrasound System

What does ZST+ actually change?

It moves processing from conventional beamforming to channel-based zone processing, then applies dynamic pixel focusing across the whole field of view. Mindray also stores the full raw data set, which is what enables reprocessing after the scan.

Is the elastography quantitative?

Yes. STE is real-time two-dimensional shear-wave elastography and returns quantitative stiffness values rather than only a colour map.

What cardiology measurements are available?

TDI QA analyses up to eight myocardial regions at once, reporting velocity, strain, strain rate and synchrony. TT QA tracks myocardial motion from 2D speckle patterns, so it does not depend on the Doppler angle.

What are the workflow tools?

iStation for animal records, iScanHelper for reference images and scanning guidance, iWorks for standardised exam sequences, iVocal for voice control, iMeasure for flagged findings, iStorage for data transfer and iReport for report templates.

How much does iWorks save?

Mindray states iWorks reduces exam time by about 50 percent and keystrokes by about 80 percent. These are manufacturer figures for standardised workflows.

How does it compare with the Vetus 8?

Both share a 23.8-inch monitor and five transducer sockets. The 9 adds ZST+, raw data storage, STE, UWN+, TDI QA with eight regions, TT QA and the 15.6-inch touch display.
