Product Overview

Colour Doppler on a desktop chassis

The U50 Vet is Edan’s desktop general imaging system for veterinary work, and the colour Doppler capability is what places it above the mobile DUS60 in the range.

Edan builds the image processing set around speckle reduction, spatial compounding and phase-inversion tissue harmonic imaging, with multi-beam acquisition and Quickimage optimisation tools. Doppler coverage includes PW, CW and HPRF, which means high-velocity flows can be measured without aliasing artefacts.

The display is a 12.1-inch high-resolution LCD and two active exchangeable connectors take multi-frequency probes. Edan lists twelve probe types for this platform, and the battery is rated for up to 90 minutes if the unit has to move.

Desktop systems suit a dedicated imaging room. Colour Doppler is the threshold feature for cardiac and vascular work; above that, differences come down to probe range, display size and processing platform.

FAQ

Common questions about Edan U50 Vet Veterinary Ultrasound System

Is the model name different on Edan’s site?

Yes. Edan publishes this product under the page title U50 PE VET, and the catalogue model is U50 Vet. Both refer to the same desktop platform, so confirm the exact variant when ordering.

Does it have colour Doppler?

Yes. Edan describes it as an economical colour Doppler diagnostic ultrasound system and lists PW, CW and HPRF.

What is spatial compounding for?

It combines frames taken from several angles to reduce speckle and improve border definition, which is useful in abdominal scanning of deeper organs.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 90 minutes of battery operation.

How does it compare with the U60 Vet?

The U60 has a 15-inch monitor and dual transducer ports for simultaneous connection, and adds triplex imaging. The U50 uses a 12.1-inch display and two exchangeable connectors.

What is not published?

Edan does not publish screen resolution, weight or dimensions for this system. Ask ICEN for the datasheet.
